Collaboration with Textiel Museum Tilburg in white woven piece.
This woven gate is part of a triptych exploring the visual codes and physical textures of iron wrought gates and fences. Translating the harsh metal gates’s patterns into soft but dominating woollen textile doors, the juxtaposition of these ornamental fences with the blurring of the form using textile techniques softens the ominous and forbidding vision of the gates, mysteriously beckoning you to look, to walk beyond the fence.

A blend of Renaissance and Louis XV fencing styles brings forwards the patterns of scrollwork imitating plants that emerged in many cultures throughout history, inviting you to discreetly take a peek through the gaps in the fence, to what might be someone’s secret garden.
