Transplantation Library: Reading Hall

Format: Bi-Color Furniture Set
Materials: MDF, Resin
Released: 2024
Production: Jacob Wallet

The furniture for Transplantation Library: Reading Hall is designed to present a curated selection of rare and often inaccessible printed materials, serve as a site for workshops, and immerse visitors in a layered environment of images, texts, and sounds. The installation invites audiences to engage with the evolving narrative of an Afropean art institution in the making.

Alongside a faux-Riso printed photo wall and a series of screen-printed banners, the space includes a custom table and cabinet set.

The first piece underscores the fragility of the publications through its protective top casing, featuring a resin-coated base and a scored structure that supports a removable glass surface. The second, a more communal pair of furnishings, is designed to encourage reading, gathering, and shared learning, acting as the primary site for workshops within the exhibition.
